Mardi Gras - Pancake Tuesday!

Fat Tuesday, also called Pancake Day, Pancake Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday and Mardi Gras, which is French for “Fat Tuesday”, is the last day of feasting before Lent. We are going to celebrate by having a Mardi Gras Pancake Feast, Tuesday, March 5. Pancakes will be served between 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm. You may bring your favorite topping to church on Sunday, March 3 to share at this event. Toppings can be whatever you enjoy on your tall stack, syrup, fruit, whipped cream, sprinkles, CHOCOLATE…..etc, but not required to attend. Wear a festive mask, beads, or even a costume and enjoy great music, food and fellowship. Who will be crowned the King of the festival? Come and enjoy!

Ash Wednesday

Lent is a season of forty days, not counting Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday. The first day of Lent marks the beginning of a period of reflection and penance. We begin the preparation for the understanding of the death and resurrection of Christ. The particular symbolism of ashes for this day comes from a practice in which the ashes from the palms used in the preceding year's Palm Sunday celebration are blessed. With these ashes pastors on the first day of Lent marks a cross on the forehead of each worshiper. Join us Wednesday, March 6 at noon in the Sanctuary as we gather in preparation of Lent.

Greeters  Needed

Few things say as much about a congregation as a warm smile and a friendly welcome for folks as they come to church on Sunday morning. It really is essential to who we are as a church family!

Now our Welcome Team is seeking new greeters to assist those who are already providing a hearty welcome at our worship services. If you have never considered being a greeter, now is a great time to come on board. It’s a wonderful way to meet people, and to put names with faces. There’s no need to know everyone’s name ahead of time. In fact, greeting provides a structured way to say “hello.” It’s also a great family activity, and the Welcome Team will teach you everything you need to know.

We’re now taking sign ups for new greeters. Speak to Priscilla Faria or Ruth Terry sometime in the next few weeks to be part of our new rotation. Or simply call the church office (668-3000) and say “I’d like to be a greeter!” We’ll say to you, what we hope to say to every attender on Sunday morning: “It’s great to have you with us!”
